Yotuni, in the Oneida language, means "its growing”. We are First Nation People, who have faced various challenges in life, have come together and want to share the knowledge that we have gained. Through Grass Roots and professionalism we are committed to helping children, youth and their families from all walks of life on their healing journey. With mentoring, guidance, cultural educational teachings, workshops, and healing circles we will help create spiritual growth, strong hearts, and strong minds and provide the tools and life skills needed to live positive and healthy lifestyles. The Yotuni Team is non-judgmental, respectful and compassionate when supporting and working with the People. We are humble, honest, respectful, brave, wise, truthful and loving leaders who are here to help.
Our children, youth, and people are hurting. We are all strong Warriors, but we are lost, wounded and confused and searching for knowledge, support, and structure. We have been deeply disconnected to who we are as People as well from; our teachings, traditions, and our Grass Roots. We are weak in our minds, bodies, and Spirits and struggle with battles within ourselves and in our relationships, social groups, schools, communities, the criminal justice field and everywhere else. We are constantly at battle with love, anger, abuse, injustice, corruption, fear, suicide and addictions to alcohol, drugs, pills, sex, money and so much more. Our People don’t belong, we don’t fit in, and we don’t understand this Society, and when we reach out for help, we walk away feeling judged, intimidated; and more frustrated, abused, confused, lost and stuck.
A lot of awareness and knowledge has been brought forward on Residential Schools and the effects it has had on our Survivors and the following generations, which helps shed a lot of light on why our People are lost, disconnected and suffering today. We want to know the effects that are affecting our children and youth so that we can help break those vicious cycles and help our People heal and grow. Sickness begins within our Spirit and affects our minds, our emotions and our bodies. What we need to do is to reconnect by gaining awareness, more knowledge, and understanding of who we are. Yotuni has a strong foundation and is about empowerment of the self, mind, body and the Spirit. It is what is needed in our First Nations Communities and all communities. We are a team of leaders who have heart, a strong passion for helping and truly understand the pain, struggle, and anger. Together we have many skills, life experiences, and knowledge to share. We are the youth of yesterday and we are here to help empower the children and youth of today with the knowledge that we gained from our own life struggles, experiences, and teachings.
